A man has been charged in connection with a string of stranger assaults against women in Vancouver, according to information shared by the VPD.
Vancouver police have released a photo of the suspect and are hoping anyone with more information comes forward.
An investigation began on Jan. 29, 2025, when a woman was assaulted by a man she didn’t know. At the time, she was walking near Granville and Dunsmuir Street.
“Over the course of several months, at least three other women reported being assaulted by a man with a similar description.”

According to information from VPD, every incident involved the suspect either elbowing or shoulder-checking the victims down while passing them on the sidewalks, sometimes knocking them to the ground.
The investigation led police to a 28-year-old man named Dylan Brandon Gaita.
Gaita was arrested on March 5 by VPD Special Investigation Section investigators, with help from patrol officers in the downtown area.
He has now been charged with four counts of assault that occurred between Jan. 29 and Jan. 31 this year.
“Unprovoked violence against strangers is an ongoing concern for everyone, and we know that sometimes these incidents are not immediately reported to police,” says VPD Constable Megan Lui in a statement.
“Although we’ve made an arrest in these cases, there may still be additional victims, witnesses, or people with information. That is why we’ve chosen to release the suspect’s photo, and ask anyone who has not yet come forward to contact police.”
The VPD will be hosting a press conference at its headquarters later this morning to share more information about the Vancouver stranger assaults.
