North Vancouver RCMP found an illegal surprise after a Mini Cooper driver rear-ended a patrol officer.
According to the North Vancouver RCMP, the incident, which transpired on March 5, led to the discovery of illegal drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
The patrol officer’s vehicle was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Keith Road and Mountain Highway.
“As additional officers arrived on scene to check on the driver of the Mini Cooper and the patrol officer who had been struck, they observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle,” North Vancouver RCMP said.
Both the driver and the passenger of the Mini Cooper were from the North Shore and were arrested for drug possession.
“A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine, cash, and evidence consistent with drug trafficking,” North Vancouver RCMP revealed. The RCMP also shared a picture of the haul.

“This incident shows how routine calls can quickly turn into something far more serious,” said Corporal Mansoor Sahak, media relations officer for the North Vancouver RCMP, in a statement.
“Rear‑ending a marked police car isn’t a recommended life choice, but in this case, it did make it remarkably easy for officers to intercept harmful drugs before they reached the community.”
Both suspects were released on the scene “pending the outcome of the investigation.”
No one sustained any injuries as a result of the car accident.
