Vancouver’s new Nigerian restaurant Arike is officially open. The eatery, located at 1725 Davie Street, is named after head chef Sam Olayinka’s grandmother. The new spot has 44 seats inside along with a 16-seat patio, where it offers Olayinka’s take on Nigerian-Canadian cuisine, inspired by his father’s recipes from Nigeria and products and ingredients from the Pacific Northwest.

Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby campus just got a brand new pub. The Study Public House will be opened in the former location of campus joint the Highland Pub, which shuttered in 2017.  The new arcade pub has all the trappings of an epic hangout space for students.

Oyster Bar at The Sandbar

The Sandbar on Granville Island has been undergoing some renovations for a while now, and its highly-anticipated new oyster bar is officially open. Located on the main level of the multistorey waterfront restaurant, the oyster bar is now open Thursday to Saturday from 3 to 9 pm. The 20-seat bar is first come, first served, no reservations will be available at this new seafood destination.

The Italian Tomato has officially opened at 1047 Davie Street, formerly the spot of Priscilla’s Restaurant. Known for their authentic and traditional Italian eats like lasagna, cannelloni, and spaghetti, the Italian Tomato offers patrons 14 kinds of pasta and 39 different kinds of sauces in seriously generous portions.
