Police responded to multiple collisions on the Sea to Sky Highway on Monday, as snowy conditions have made the road slippery.
Squamish RCMP tweeted a photo of a flipped-over blue sedan they dealt with and said other vehicles have slid and skidded off the highway.
RCMP in Squamish and @WhistlerRCMP have already responded to multiple collisions: vehicles have flipped, slid, and crashed off the highway due to winter/snow conditions. It’s raining in Vancouver, but that precipitation turns to snow further north on the Sea to Sky.
Winter tires are mandatory on the highway this time of year, but Squamish RCMP tweeted those won’t always save you from a crash.
“The problem comes when drivers are driving too fast for the conditions,” the force tweeted.
Compliance for winter tires is usually high, and we have found 90%+ of collisions in our area have winter tires. The problem comes when drivers are driving too fast for the conditions.
