On Saturday, July 28, a 68-year-old driver passed away at the scene of a multi-vehicle collision in Surrey.

The incident took place at approximately 10:30 am when the 68-year-old, along with her 73-year-old male passenger, was travelling northbound on 184th Street.

The two were struck by a 37-year-old male driver who was travelling Eastbound on 40th Avenue.

According to police, preliminary evidence suggests that the stop sign on 40th Avenue and 184th Street was ignored, which caused the collision.

The 68-year-old died on scene. Her passenger, as well as the 37-year-old who struck their car, were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Surrey Traffic Services, the Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT), along with the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstructionist Services (iCARS), have gathered information and are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Surrey RCMP (604-599-0502) or contact Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477).
