Vancouver’s biggest water fight returns to Stanley Park next month
If you see someone in a business suit getting blasted with a Super Soaker at Stanley Park, don’t be alarmed. It’s all part of Vancouver’s largest water fight, and it’s set to make a splash next month.
The 15th annual Vancouver Water Fight is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, kicking off at 1 p.m. near Lumberman’s Arch.
Hundreds of people are expected to gather for one of the city’s quirkiest and most joyful summer traditions.
And the best part? It’s free for all.

“This is a free, unsanctioned event with no organizer, no tickets, and no instructions,” reads the event page on Facebook. “You can use a water gun, a bucket, a water bottle, a plastic bag, or just your cupped hands.
“Just show up near The Lumberman’s Arch in Stanley Park, follow the sounds of the giggles and squeals to the Fox’s Den Spray Park, get in there, and have fun!”
Costumes are highly encouraged. Previous years have featured dinosaurs, astronauts, and at least one person in a full business suit (known affectionately as “Ken the Walking Target”).
While most attendees are adults, the event is billed as family-friendly and encourages safe and respectful play.
The water fight’s code of conduct includes:
- Don’t spray bystanders
- Aim for the body, not the face
- Bring a waterproof bag for valuables
- Leave the water balloons at home

The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine, and organizers stress that the event is for everyone to have fun.
“You can drop in any time you like. The bulk of the fun will last about 90 minutes, but it just keeps going for hours as long as the smiles persist.”
