Western Canada’s largest outdoor escape room coming to Surrey next month

It is being billed as Western Canada’s largest outdoor escape room event, and it will carry a unique urban problem-solving theme.

The City of Surrey and City of Vancouver’s Smart Cities partnership will be hosting a free escape room experience in Surrey Civic Plaza, just outside Surrey City Hall.

Over the span of a 60-minute session on Saturday, February 9 and Sunday, February 10, participants will have to strategize, solve riddles, and collaborate through a series of puzzles and riddles to help create a smarter city.

“You have arrived at the scene of a road collision and your team has 60 minutes to work through a series of puzzles and riddles, all the while collecting points along the way,” reads the event’s description.

“Accept the mission and you’ll be navigating your way through a research lab, learning about hazardous behaviours, and more, while unlocking chances to win prizes, learn about technology and transportation, and have fun while you’re at it!”

This experience is suitable for all ages given its varying difficulties, but parents must accompany elementary-aged children on challenges.

While the experience is free, there are limited availabilities, with online registrations on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The experience also includes a free ride on the autonomous shuttle that will be making its rounds around the plaza for two weeks.
