Feb 16 2020, 12:06 am

A small earthquake occurred near Nelson, BC, Saturday afternoon.

The quake was magnitude 3.2, according to the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program. That’s a strong enough earthquake for people to feel, but likely not strong enough to cause damage.

Tens of thousands of mild earthquakes happen around the world every year.

This one happened east of Nelson but west of Cranbrook, BC at a depth of 14 kilometres.
