Ming Wo Cookware is closing after 100+ years of operating in Vancouver’s Chinatown

A century-old business that has been operating in Vancouver’s Chinatown since 1917 is officially closing its doors.

Ming Wo Cookware told Daily Hive that its original location will be closing “within the next couple of months.”

The Canadian owned-and-operated company is known for its great selection of kitchen supplies and top-notch service.

The iconic 23 E. Pender Street location is also home to Ming Wo’s head office. A member of the Ming Wo team told Daily Hive they’ll likely be moving their operations to another Vancouver location.

The company operates two other Vancouver outposts in Kitsilano and South Granville as well as a Burnaby store in Lougheed Town Centre.

Ming Wo could not provide Daily Hive with an exact closing date, but it seems you still have some time to head in and enjoy this original Vancouver business before it shutters.

This news comes shortly after another much-loved Chinatown spot, Juniper, quietly closed its doors at the end of December.

We saw some other longtime culinary destinations close their doors in 2019 and there are a few we are anticipating saying goodbye to in 2020 as well.
