If you spent any time pondering saviours for the Vancouver Whitecaps, Michael Bublé probably came to mind.

Not only is he one of the most recognizable celebrities associated with the city of Vancouver, but Bublé is also an avid sports fan.

In fact, the Grammy-winner is passionate enough about hockey that he has gotten into spats with NHL Insiders and has appeared on local podcasts to profess his love for the Vancouver Canucks.

Bublé also co-owns the WHL’s Vancouver Giants, alongside childhood friend and television celebrity Drew Scott.

But what about the Vancouver Whitecaps?

Well, Bublé admitted to the Canadian Press on Wednesday that he was approached to join the Whitecaps ownership group “a long time ago.” The Whitecaps have been up for sale since December 2024. Scott also admitted that he was approached to join the Whitecaps ownership group within the past week.

As of 2022, Bublé’s net worth was estimated to be about $80 million. Scott’s was more recently estimated to be about $100 million.

That could qualify them to get involved with Whitecaps ownership.

So, should Whitecaps fans expect these two celebrities to help save the club?

Don’t hold your breath.

Neither celebrity has committed to joining any new ownership group.

For now, Bublé and Scott are focused on the Giants. They met with the media in Toronto this week to promote their new documentary, Hometown Giants, a six-episode series following the story of the Vancouver Giants. It’s scheduled to appear on Amazon Prime this fall.
