Vancouver FIFA Fan Festival tickets are a tough sell so far

May 27 2026, 6:21 pm

The FIFA World Cup kicks off in less than three weeks.

With seven matches happening at BC Place, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Vancouver to play a part in hosting the largest single-sport event in the world.

The city is getting ready in a number of ways, and hype is starting to build.

So why have FIFA Fan Festival tickets been such a tough sell?

Much of Vancouver’s FIFA Fan Festival is free

It’s free to enter the FIFA Fan Festival, which opens to the public at the PNE fairgrounds at Hastings Park for the first time on June 11.

You can view World Cup matches on large screens on the festival grounds and enjoy live music and other entertainment via the Park Stage and Amphitheatre general admission floor on a first-come, first-served basis. Over 120 artist performances will take place during the 28 days the Fan Festival is open from June 11 to July 19.

Festival organizers say there’ll also be interactive fan activations and immersive on-site experiences to enjoy.

“The FIFA Fan Festival Vancouver will be B.C.’s largest fan destination for live match viewing and soccer experiences during the FIFA World Cup this summer,” a Vancouver Host Committee spokesperson told Daily Hive.

“We’re pleased to offer fans a range of options to attend the FIFA Fan Festival, in line with our commitment to welcoming all residents and visitors to what promises to be an unforgettable experience.”

Amphitheatre tickets not selling

The brand-new PNE Amphitheatre, which will be renamed the “Freedom Mobile Arch” after the FIFA World Cup, is set to open soon, and it looks absolutely spectacular.

The new open-air venue with a view of the North Shore mountains can hold up to 10,000 spectators, making it a great spot for outdoor concerts and viewing parties.

Fan Festival organizers say they’re looking to create a “high-energy, stadium-style atmosphere,” and honestly, this looks like the perfect spot.

Just one problem: the tickets aren’t selling.

Online seating charts show an abundance of ticket inventory that is still unsold.

Whether it’s a lack of awareness or an unwillingness to pay the listed prices, most of the festival dates look even half full. The one exception is July 19, the date of the FIFA World Cup Final, which appears close to sold out.

Still plenty of seats left for the first day (TicketLeader)

Tickets for the first day of the tournament on June 11 range from $115.05 to $126.85 for reserved seating, or $44.25 for general admission lawn tickets. This buys you a seat to watch two matches on the big screen, Mexico vs. South Africa at noon and Korea Republic vs. Czechia at 7 p.m. It also secures your spot for three concerts: Los Dorados at 10:45 a.m., Current Swell at 3:40 p.m., and The Revivalists at 5:10 p.m.

Demand is higher for June 12, when Canada plays its first match against Bosnia-Herzegovina at noon. The second match of the day is USA vs. Paraguay at 6 p.m., while concerts include Famous Players (10:30 a.m.), Down with Webster (4:30 p.m.), and The Funk Hunters (8:10 p.m.).

More tickets selling for June 12 (TicketLeader)

Tickets are cheaper on June 13, a day with three matches but just one concert. You can get a reserved seat for as cheap as $44.25 that day.

“There are several options for entry to the festival site, including entry to the general admission floor of the amphitheatre, which has an estimated capacity of 2,600 and will be available and open on a first come first served basis on all match days.”

“Fans looking to elevate their experience can purchase tickets offering full-day access to the festival site and amphitheatre. With a reserved ticket, visitors get guaranteed entry, all-day access to the amphitheatre, premium viewing for matches and performances, and the freedom to come and go throughout the day,” a Vancouver Host Committee spokesperson told Daily Hive.

“As with many high-profile cultural events, as awareness builds and we approach the start of FIFA Fan Festival Vancouver, we fully anticipate seeing excitement and momentum accelerate.”

It’ll be interesting to see how Vancouver embraces the World Cup. Locals have raised a number of legitimate concerns in the lead-up to the tournament, just as people did before the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.

But once the torch was lit at the Opening Ceremony, Vancouver embraced its role as host, kicking off arguably the most fun two and a half weeks in the city’s history.

Will we see something similar during the World Cup?
