Metro Vancouver is in for another gorgeous weekend with highs that will make you want to hit the beach.

According to the latest forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), sunshine is expected for the next several days.

On Saturday, highs of 22°C are forecasted, except for inland, where highs will reach 28°C.

On Sunday, inland temperatures could reach 29°C.

In a previous interview with Daily Hive, ECCC meteorologist Bobby Sekhon noted that the temperature difference between coastal and inland regions runs on a “gradient.”

Highs near the water will be generally cooler, but in areas like the Fraser Valley, Pitt Meadows, and Surrey, temperatures get higher, hitting those hotter marks.

The high temperatures will continue through Monday as inland highs are expected to reach 29°C.

ECCC also recently released its Metro Vancouver summer forecast model, which predicts an 87 per cent probability of above normal temperatures for June, July, and August for the region.

Essentially, Metro Vancouver is in for a warm and dry summer, but according to Sekhon, the modelling comes with “uncertainty” for long-range forecasts.

“The uncertainty increases further in time, but nonetheless, it’s something to go off of. But really, we’ll have to follow the day-to-day and the week-to-week forecast to see how that materializes,” Sekhon said in a previous interview.

“Because, of course, it’s hard to say right now whether those above normal temperatures could be in the form of a heat wave or multiple heat waves, or if it’s just going to be a little bit above normal throughout the summer.”
