The Vancouver Whitecaps are going to have some massive crowds this year. The team announced today that it plans to open the upper bowl at BC Place for four matches this year, including the one against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF.

The Golden Era Pack, which includes tickets to all four games, was announced yesterday. It has proven to be popular and almost all of the lower bowl inventory is already sold out. For this reason, the team is opening the upper bowl to increase capacity.

The four games that will see the upper bowl opened are the same four games included in the Golden Era Pack. They are as follows.

  • March 2 vs. Charlotte FC (home opener)
  • May 4 vs. Austin FC (50th-anniversary game)
  • May 25 vs. Inter Miami CF (Messi visits)
  • August 24 vs. LAFC (playoff rematch)

This will be the first time that Inter Miami CF visits Vancouver. The club brought in Messi last season and the Argentinian superstar immediately made an impact, scoring one goal and adding two assists in six MLS appearances.

The Whitecaps made the playoffs last season but were eliminated by LAFC in heartbreaking fashion.

As of right now, the only ways to get tickets to see Messi play in Vancouver are to purchase the Golden Era Pack or to become a Whitecaps season member.

Ticket inquiries can be made through the website or by contacting the ticketing team. If you want to get your hands on single-game tickets, you’re going to need to wait a bit longer until they’re released.

BC Place has played host to some major soccer events over the last few months. Chiefly, the Canadian women’s national team played Australia in Christine Sinclair’s last game for her country. Fans packed the arena to bid the Canadian legend farewell after a historic career.
