Canadian fried chicken chain that's been around 50+ years reveals major global expansion plan

One of Canada’s biggest restaurant chains has revealed major plans for overseas expansion in 2025, and we love to see it!
Mary Brown’s Chicken, the Canadian-born fried chicken chain, is making huge strides with plans to expand in its existing markets and in new locations around the world in 2025.
The extremely popular Canadian fried chicken spot was first opened in St. John’s, Nfld., in 1969. It now operates over 280 locations across Canada.
Known internationally as MB Chicken, the brand is heading even further afield, aiming to open 150 international locations over the next five years.
Last year, Mary Brown’s opened its first U.K. location and has since opened two more outposts. The chain is gearing up for more openings in Preston and Southampton this spring, with more locations in development for Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.
MB Chicken is also set to open four drive-thru locations in Merida, Mexico, along with a concession in the city’s baseball stadium.
As for brand new locations, MB Chicken will be opening its first locations in Pakistan and India over the course of the year.
The brand will be opening two restaurants in Lahore in its DHA Sector 5 and Doleman Mall. It also plans to open a drive-thru in the second quarter of 2025 and to open an outpost in Islamabad by the end of the year.
Meanwhile in India, MB Chicken will be focusing on New Delhi and the Punjab State initially, with a new location set to open every month starting from April 2025.
As for the menu, MB Chicken will have “innovative new offerings that reflect local tastes,” while staying true to its Canadian roots,” said Tony Samuelson, president and global chief operating officer at Mary Brown’s Chicken.
It’s certainly an exciting time for the Canadian chain.
