“Tough as nails.”
These are the three words Craig McMorris – the brother of injured pro snowboarder Mark McMorris – used to describe how his brother is doing in hospital after a serious injury near Whistler.
McMorris was riding a jump with his brother Craig and a group of friends, but in the flat light misjudged a takeoff, a Canada Snowboard spokesperson told Daily Hive.
A release from Canada Snowboard said McMorris suffered a fractured jaw and left arm, ruptured spleen, a stable pelvic fracture, rib fractures and a collapsed left lung.
Since being airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital, he has undergone two surgeries to control bleeding from the spleen and repair his jaw and arm fractures.
Team Physician, Dr. Rodney J. French, said the surgeries went well.
Craig McMorris appeared to agree.
Also this week, Snowboard Canada announced that Mark has been provisionally nominated to Canada’s Olympic team
