Pedestrian dead after being struck by train

Update: The Surrey RCMP has announced that the man involved in the collision has passed away in the hospital.

The investigation into this collision continues.


A man is in the hospital with “potentially life-threatening injuries” after being struck by a train on Wednesday evening.

The Surrey RCMP says in an email that the incident took place at approximately 7:20 pm in Cloverdale, near the intersection of 53rd Avenue at 184th Street.

“Initial indications are that serious and potentially life-threatening injuries have been sustained by the male pedestrian, as a result of this collision,” police said in a statement.

A road closure was also put in place for approximately seven hours as officers began the early stages of the investigation.

Investigators are now asking for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
