Young girls followed by man while walking home from school: RCMP

Police are investigating after three young girls were allegedly followed by a suspicious man while they were walking home.

The Surrey RCMP says that the incident occurred on Wednesday, just after 4 pm. The three girls were walking home from Riverdale Elementary School when a suspicious man allegedly began following them.

“The girls walked from the school to Holly Park on 148 Street when the man continued to follow them, they went into a nearby grocery store for help,” reads a statement from the Surrey RCMP.

The suspect reportedly left the area once the girls entered the store. Police are now sharing a description of the suspect and are asking that anyone with information come forward.

The man is described as Middle Eastern, in his late teens or early 30s. He stands at approximately 5’10” with black messy hair, a moustache, and dark stubble.

Police say that he was wearing blue jeans, a black hoody, and red shoes. He was also seen carrying a blue portable speaker.

“In this case, these girls did the right thing,” says Constable Sarbjit Sangha. “If you suspect you are being followed, go to a safe place, or approach other people in the area, and call police for help.”
