Man falls from 3-storey building while trying to flee from police

A man has been rushed to the hospital after falling from a three-story building.

Police say that on Thursday, March 22, they were executing a search warrant in the Downtown Eastside, at a residence near East Hastings and Columbia Street.

During the search, a man in his 50s tried to flee by exiting out a third-story window.

He fell to the ground, however, and was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Independent Investigations Office is investigating the circumstances leading up to the man’s injuries and the VPD’s property crime investigation is ongoing.
