A man has been charged after following and exposing himself to a woman in Gastown on Wednesday morning.

According to Vancouver Police, the victim was returning to her apartment located near Carrall and East Cordova streets after being out for a run around 7 am.

The male suspect began to follow her and use aggressive language. The woman was able to get inside her building and close the door behind her and call the police. The suspect proceeded to allegedly expose himself and continued to act aggressively.

VPD says Christopher Larsen, 31, has been charged with an indecent act and resisting or obstructing a peace officer in the execution of their duties.

“The victim in this file did exactly what we advise everyone to do when they feel unsafe or afraid,” said VPD Constable Tania Visintin in a release. “She got to a place of safety and called police right away. From that, we were able to arrest the suspect within minutes.”

Larsen remains in custody until his next court appearance.
