The BC Lions are going to start the 2025 season off with a bang.
Over 50,000 tickets have been sold for the Lions’ season opener on June 7, the team announced on Friday. And they’re not there to see the Edmonton Elks.
Snoop Dogg has proven to be a popular choice for the concert kickoff game, just as 50 Cent was last year when 53,788 fans set a new Lions home-opener attendance record.
“Snoop Dogg is a global icon, and it’s exciting to see the entire province and beyond get behind the 2025 Concert Kickoff,” said Lions president Duane Vienneau.
“Last year’s home opener sold out and it’s clear we’re on track for another one well in advance of June 7. We’ll continue to hold amazing seats for new season ticket holders in the lower bowl, as we know our season ticket base is the foundation of our organization.”
The Lions are asking fans to arrive early and be seated by 5:45 p.m. for the concert. The game kicks off after 7 p.m., while the “backyard party” on Terry Fox Plaza begins at 2 p.m.
BC is looking for a bounce-back season after finishing with a disappointing 9-9 record in 2024. All eyes will be on Nathan Rourke, the Canadian quarterback who never found his form after joining the Lions mid-season after his NFL stint.
A full offseason of preparation and training should help Rourke, as could Buck Pierce, who begins his first season as Lions head coach.
