The BC Lions have a new primary logo.

A new, modernized Lions logo was first introduced last season, but only for the team’s gunmetal uniform.

But the logo was prominently displayed at a team event in mid-April, which caught our eye. The team’s social media accounts began changing to the sharpened design in the weeks that followed.

Changes to the logo include a font change to align with the team’s monogram and wordmark logos. The ears, eyes, and teeth have also been sharpened, and there are subtle changes to the nose and neck lines.

The Lions revealed changes to their helmet and jersey during Monday’s preseason game on Vancouver Island, again featuring the modernized logo.

On Tuesday, a Lions spokesperson confirmed with Daily Hive that the team has indeed made a change to its primary logo.

While secondary logos have come and gone, the classic BC primary logo had remained relatively untouched since the 1980s, with only subtle changes being made to the shade of orange.

There were signs the Lions were growing tired of the old look, as their monogram and Indigenous logos were featured on helmets last season, while the primary logo was not.

BC has one more preseason game to play before the 2025 season kicks off. Lions owner Amar Doman is making a splash once again, as Snoop Dogg will perform prior to the season opener against the Edmonton Elks on June 7 at BC Place. Ticket sales have already surpassed 40,000 for that game, as a sellout crowd is seemingly in sight.
