An employee at Loblaw’s South Surrey distribution centre has tested positive for coronavirus, the company confirmed to Daily Hive.

The employee last worked on April 28 and tested positive on May 3. The company noted the infected individual was not symptomatic while at work.

Loblaw said it has taken a number of steps to protect other employees in the warehouse, located at 2755 190 Street in Surrey.

These measures including removing the equipment the employee worked with for deep cleaning and thoroughly sanitizing the aisles and any common areas in the warehouse.

Additionally, colleagues who worked closely with this individual were sent home to self-isolate and monitor for any symptoms, said Loblaw.

Loblaw told Daily Hive they are reaching out to the local public health unit for further details and to discuss the next steps.
