Lime’s micromobility sharing services can now be found in Metro Vancouver’s third most populated municipality, with the company today launching an e-bike share service in Burnaby.
This is the very first e-bike share service for Burnaby.
“Lime Canada is proud to partner with the City of Burnaby to launch its first e-bike share program and give residents and visitors an affordable, flexible, and sustainable way to get around. This program will connect neighbouring cities across Metro Vancouver, making it easier for more people to choose active transportation for everyday trips,” said Carling Dick, senior director of national government relations for Lime Canada, in a statement today.

Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley added, “Burnaby is committed to making it easy for people to get around our city in more sustainable and flexible ways. With more than 100 kilometres of protected bike lanes and multi-use pathways in Burnaby, we’re pleased to be able to offer another safe, easy way to explore our community and choose active transportation.”

Just like Lime’s services elsewhere in Metro Vancouver and around the world, residents and visitors can use the Lime smartphone app to locate, unlock, and pay to use the micromobility devices, with the Burnaby service limited to e-bikes. Riders must park the device in a designated parking area before ending their trip.
E-scooters are not an option for the company’s service in this jurisdiction at this time.
Upon today’s launch, Lime’s designated e-bike parking areas could be found in the Metrotown and Edmonds neighbourhoods, Burnaby’s civic hub just north of Deer Lake Park, and at Christine Sinclair Community Centre just west of Burnaby Lake.
Currently, Lime’s service area in Burnaby is limited to the city’s central areas — roughly bounded by BCIT Burnaby and Deer Lake to the north, Canada Way and the border with New Westminster to the east, the Big Bend district to the south, and the border with Vancouver to the west. The geographical service area, parking locations, and fleet size will grow over time.

Lime also has a major presence in these adjacent jurisdictions, including the e-bike share service it operates in New Westminster and the significant e-scooter share service in Vancouver. As well, the company operates an e-bike share service in New Westminster, as well as both e-bike and e-scooter share services in Port Moody, central Coquitlam, and central Richmond.
The San Francisco-headquartered company benefits significant economies of scale in its Metro Vancouver operations, although it was forced to withdraw from West Vancouver, North Vancouver City, and North Vancouver District in Summer 2025, after BCAA’s Evolve e-bike share was chosen as the permanent operator for the North Shore service.
Last month, the City of Burnaby tightened its rules for riding e-scooters, making it illegal to use such devices on most types of major roads — similar to the policies previously adopted by the City of Vancouver. This is part of the City’s formal participation in the provincial government’s e-scooter pilot project of enabling such devices on public roads.
