Lime's Vancouver e-scooter share offers free valet stations and flat-rate discount passes during FIFA World Cup

Lime is ramping up its e-scooter share operations across Vancouver to help residents and visitors move around during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is expected to create significant traffic congestion in and around the Downtown Vancouver peninsula, especially on match days at BC Place Stadium.

The micro-mobility giant announced this week that it will introduce several temporary measures aimed at easing congestion near major venues and entertainment districts.

The plan includes expanded staffing, designated valet parking stations for riders, and a new flat-rate discounted pass intended to make short-distance travel more affordable during peak event periods.

Lime is introducing a limited-time, e-scooter share “Fan Pass” during the event period, offering up to 90 minutes of riding time for $10.99. The pass includes free unlocks and discounted ride rates that can be used flexibly over five days.

This Fan Pass is a substantial discount, compared to Lime’s regular pay-as-you-go rate structure of an unlocking fee, plus use per minute. It should also be noted that Lime’s smartphone app also offers various other normal pass products for regular frequent riding.

“We’re excited to support Vancouver during such a major moment for the City and help residents and visitors get where they need to go throughout the summer. We know major events can create transportation challenges and higher travel costs, which is why we’re focused on providing reliable and affordable transportation options during this busy period,” said Carling Dick, the senior regional lead of government relations at Lime, in a statement.

“Rather than surge pricing, we’re offering a reliable flat-rate option and free parking support at key destinations to help people get around Vancouver more easily.”

Among the biggest changes will be the rollout of full-service staffed valet stations at high-traffic locations, including near Vancouver’s official FIFA World Cup Fan Festival at the PNE fairgrounds. The staffed valet locations near the fan festival will be at Callister Park and Hastings Community Park. As well, to serve the expected demand at Granville Island, there will be a dedicated valet station on Cartwright Street.

At these staffed valet stations, Lime riders will be able to leave the e-scooters at these designated locations — instead of having to search for parking due to the limited spaces at the usual locking docking parking stations across Vancouver, especially with the anticipated major crowds. Since launching in September 2024, Lime’s e-scooter share operations in Vancouver is the company’s only system in the world to use locking docking parking stations, setting it apart from the company’s conventional system of having designated parking locations without any physical infrastructure for locking docking stations.

Lime is also planning a temporary valet hub near Science World to help spectators travelling to and from BC Place Stadium. SkyTrain’s Main Street-Science World Station is also the start of the “Last Mile” pedestrian route along Quebec Street/Pacific Boulevard to reach the only stadium entrance during the tournament.

To better manage rider safety and pedestrian traffic, Lime notes that some parts of its usual service area in the city will see temporary restrictions during match days.

Areas surrounding BC Place Stadium and segments of Granville Street in Downtown Vancouver — where there will be a car-free pedestrian zone throughout the tournament’s duration — will become non-operational zones where e-scooter devices cannot be used, while slower riding speeds will be enforced near the PNE and along portions of the seawall pathway between Science World and BC Place Stadium.

Additional Lime foot patrol staff will also be deployed throughout event areas to assist riders and monitor parking compliance.

FIFA organizers in Vancouver are encouraging residents, workers, spectators, fans, and visitors to use public transit and plan ahead, with major road closures set for areas in and around the Downtown Vancouver peninsula. There will be a substantial increase in public transit services reaching Downtown Vancouver and the PNE during the tournament.

Typically, Stadium-Chinatown Station is the most convenient SkyTrain station to reach BC Place Stadium. However, there will be no direct access from this station to the Last Mile walking route and BC Place Stadium, which necessitates spectators to use the designated station of Main Street-Science World Station if they are taking SkyTrain to the matches.
