Lime offers free rides to vote in B.C.'s municipal and provincial elections

Voters in eight cities in British Columbia, where Lime operates, will be able to make part of their journey to the ballot box for free.
The e-bike and e-scooter shared services company is offering two free rides of up to 15 minutes each over the period between Oct. 16 and Oct. 24, 2026, to help people travel to and from voting locations.
The offer will be available in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Victoria, and Kelowna, using the promotional code VOTECAN26.
The promotion spans both general election days: British Columbians vote in municipal elections on Saturday, Oct. 17, followed by the provincial election on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Lime’s offer also spans most of the provincial election’s six-day advance voting period, which begins on Friday, Oct. 15 and ends on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Lime is also working with Apathy is Boring for a second consecutive year. The non-partisan, youth-led charity encourages young Canadians to participate in democracy, and the partnership aims to help more people vote by reducing transportation barriers.
In Vancouver’s civic election, voters will choose a mayor, city councillors, Vancouver Park Board commissioners, and Vancouver School Board trustees, and complete two separate plebiscites.
They will also vote on capital plan plebiscite borrowing questions to fund new and upgraded facilities and infrastructure. A separate non-binding public safety plebiscite will seek their views on public hard-drug use and a proposed secure medical treatment facility for people with mental health and addiction issues.
During the separate provincial general election, voters will choose the MLA for their riding, which will help determine which provincial political party forms provincial government.
