The countdown to Christmas officially began in Vancouver last night, as St. Paul’s Hospital was illuminated for this year’s Lights of Hope campaign.

This year was a special milestone for the annual event by St. Paul’s Foundation as the campaign marked its 20th anniversary.

The Lights of Hope fundraising campaign generates millions of dollars each year for the hospital’s most immediate patient care and equipment needs.

The highlight of the campaign is the fireworks that help kick it off every year, and last night was no exception .

Those who checked out the event in person also shared photos and videos on social media.

If you missed the celebration last night, don’t worry: There will be an extended opportunity to see the light display as it will remain lit every night – from dusk until dawn – for several weeks through the holidays, right up until January 8, 2018.

Over $30 million has been raised since the campaign began in 1998.
