This wacky Christmas market celebrates Krampus, St. Nick's demonic cousin

A wacky, unusual Christmas market is coming to Vancouver this December and Krampus – St. Nick’s demonic cousin – will be making an appearance.

According to European lore, Krampus is a horned figure that’s half-goat and half-demon. During the Christmas season, he punishes naughty children – a stark contrast to Saint Nicholas.

Next month, from Thursday, December 6 to Saturday, December 8, OH Studio and Strange Fellows Brewing will be teaming up to present Krampusmarkt, an old-world inspired festival.

Attendees will find a unique take on holiday shopping with odd, exquisite, and eclectic work form local artists, with ceramics, textiles, decor, artwork, and skin products available.

Visitors are encouraged to come dressed in their best goth or ugly Christmas sweater and take a photo with Krampus on Thursday night or throughout the weekend.

Seasonal artist-led workshops and tastings of vintage barrel-aged beers will also take place.

Photos with Krampus will take place from Thursday, December 6 from 7 to 9 pm and periodically throughout the weekend.

The artisan market will take place on Friday, December 7 from 5 to 11 pm and Saturday, December 8 from 12 to 11 pm.

Workshops will take place on Saturday, December 8 from 12 to 5 pm.
