A knife-wielding man who allegedly attempted to rob a retail store in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday, was arrested by police a short time later.
According to VPD, the incident took place around 12:30 pm, when officers were called a retail store in the 800-block of Granville Street, after a suspect allegedly entered the store, tried to steal merchandise, and then pulled a knife.

“The suspect fled on a bicycle and was pursued by a VPD officer,” said Const. Steve Addison.
The officer managed to stop the fleeing suspect near Smithe Street and Expo Boulevard, and “with assistance from passersby,” took him into custody.
Following the arrest, the suspect complained of an injury, and was taken to hospital. As a result, the Independent Investigations Office is now investigating what happened.
No police officers, store staff, or bystanders were injured in the incident.
Police said no additional information is available at this time.
