Here's when Kits Pool is finally reopening for summer swims

Just in time for summer’s first official weekend, one of Vancouver’s most beloved spots is making a splashy return.
The Vancouver Park Board has announced that Kitsilano Pool, the city’s scenic oceanside landmark, will reopen for the 2025 season on Saturday, June 21.
What to know about the Kits Pool reopening
Located at 2305 Cornwall Ave., just steps from the beach and the heart of Kitsilano, it’s the city’s only outdoor saltwater pool — and the longest in Canada.

Reservations for swim sessions open this Friday, June 21, at 12 p.m., so if you’re hoping to nab a sun-soaked lane or bring the kids for a weekend dip, it’s best to plan ahead.
At 137 metres long, this saltwater stunner is the biggest of its kind in Canada, and it comes with front-row views of the North Shore mountains, ocean breeze in your hair, and plenty of space to lounge between laps.
Whether you’re powering through early-morning lengths or floating into golden hour, it’s as Vancouver as summer gets.
Why the reopening was delayed
This long-awaited reopening comes after Kits Pool remained closed for two seasons. The closure began in 2023 after storm damage caused significant issues to the pool’s structure and deck.
According to the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, a mix of high tides, cold weather conditions, and contractor availability contributed to the extended delay.
“Prior to opening Kitsilano Pool for the 2025 season, staff completed repairs primarily to the pool plumbing system and required maintenance,” City of Vancouver told Daily Hive.
“There is currently no additional critical repair work planned for this season. However, at over 50 years old, and having sustained storm damage to its structure, Kitsilano pool is at the end of its service life. Ongoing yearly maintenance and repairs will continue.”
The pool is set to reopen following past structural damage and repair work, which the Park Board also previously indicated was required.
“So the need for ongoing maintenance and potential repairs is always a consideration each year. We will keep the public informed if there are any changes to the anticipated opening date.”
