It soft-opened just a few months ago, but a Toronto-based Japanese fusion tonkatsu chain Katsuya is still buzz-worthy for folks living in Metro Vancouver.

Located in Coquitlam at #8-555 Clarke Road, Katsuya serves up a selection of pork, chicken, fish, and even cheesy sweet potato katsus.

This spot also offers a Double Cheese Katsu made with pork loin, mozzarella, and cream cheese.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to katsu here – there are 13 different kinds you can order. Varieties include:

  • Katsuya Original
  • Carbonara Katsu
  • Red Carbonara Katsu
  • Sweet Chili Katsu
  • White Snow Chili Katsu
  • Garlic Chili Katsu
  • Curry Katsu
  • Hot Spicy Katsu
  • White Snow Spicy Katsu
  • Garlic Spicy Katsu
  • Terri Mayo
  • Japanese Katsu (traditional)
  • Brick Cheese Katsu

While people definitely stop in to enjoy the katsu, there are some drool-worthy appetizers up for order well.

Think Fries with Honey Butter Powder, Karaage Chicken Thigh, Tartar Shrimp, Cheese Crabmeat Croquette, Tako Wasabi, and Takoyaki too.
