"Vote him out": Jagmeet Singh speaks out against potential Trump re-election

Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh didn’t shy away from expressing his thoughts on today’s US election and the outcome he’d like to see.

On Twitter, Singh wrote in all caps that when it comes to Trump, Americans should “VOTE HIM OUT,” stating that among other things, Trump has “placed kids in cages, fanned the flames of hatred and division,” and left 230,000 dead due to COVID-19.

Singh is the most outspoken on today’s election, as neither Prime Minister Justin Trudeau or Conservative Party Leader Erin O’ Toole have issued any official statement today.

However, in early October, when asked about potential fallout from the election, Trudeau said Canada is preparing for “any outcome” if the upcoming US election has “some disruptions.”

What happens in the US “is going to be impacting us after the election, but our job is to be ready for all outcomes,” he said. “And as you know, I don’t comment or weigh in on American political processes.”

When pressed more on what “ready for all outcomes” specifically means, Trudeau said that he is “hoping for a smooth transition or clear result from the election like many are around the world.”

“If it is less clear there may be some disruptions and we need to be ready for any outcomes and thats what Canadians expect of their governments and we’re certainly reflecting on that.”
