Injured man dies after collapsing on street in Vancouver's West End

An injured man who collapsed in Vancouver’s West End neighbourhood on Thursday morning later died of his injuries, and now the incident is being treated as a homicide, police said.

In a release, VPD said the the man suffered-life threatening injuries following an assault near Main and Hastings.

Then, just before 10 am, police were called were called to the area of Robson and Denman Street for reports of a man in medical distress.

Police determined the man they found at that location was the same man who had been injured in the earlier assault, and that he made his way to the West End before collapsing.

The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

This is the city’s ninth homicide of 2019.

At this point, police said the investigation is still in its early stages, and anyone with any further information is asked to contact the VPD at 604-717-2500.
