Imperial Series performances at TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival

Coastal Jazz & Blues Society has announced the Imperial Series, which is a series of performances taking place at The Imperial at 319 Main Street during the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

The Jazz Festival, which is in its 34th year, runs this summer from Friday, June 21 to Monday, July 1.

The full lineup during the Imperial Series will include a number of performers, including Jonathan Wilson with guest Ben Rogers on June 22. Jonathan has been busy touring the globe as a guitarist and vocalist for Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters, and releasing his sublime new album, Rare Birds.

Also making an appearance and debuting music from their Impulse! Records release, The Comet is Coming is the soundtrack to an imagined apocalypse, featuring King Shabaka on saxophone, Danalogue on keyboards, Betamax Ohm on the drums performing June 21.

All the way from Houston Texas, The Suffers bring a contemporary spin on the R&B/funk bands of the ‘70s and ‘80s. The Suffers pack elements of reggae, jazz, salsa, rock, and hip hop into their signature sound performing on June 24.

Also making an appearance will be Makaya McCraven with guests Eli Davidovici’s Shapes on June 26, and  Thus Owls, Jo Passed, and Unnatural Ways featuring Ava Mendoza on June 27.

Anteloper, Ilhan Ersahin’s Istanbul Sessions, and Gordon Grdina’s Haram will be performing on June 29, and Jacob Collier will hit the stage on June 30.
