A driver in Delta will face criminal charges after he was caught driving impaired twice in two hours.
According to the Delta Police Department (DPD), officers stopped impaired drivers off the road 12 times during the long weekend.
“Unfortunately, one driver was stopped twice in the span of two hours!! He’s going to face criminal charges now for driving while prohibited,” wrote police on Twitter.
Police used discretion and let a sober passenger drive his vehicle when he was first stopped. But after the 2nd time (in 2 hours!) we decided it was safer to tow his vehicle. He’s now prohibited from driving for 7 days, rather than 3 days. pic.twitter.com/DpgrTnYzbh

The police department says its officers “used discretion” and allowed a sober passenger to drive the man’s vehicle when he was first stopped, but after the second incident — which occurred two hours later — authorities decided the safest option was to tow the vehicle.
“He’s now prohibited from driving for 7 days, rather than 3 days,” said DPD.
Police across Metro Vancouver were cracking down on dangerous drivers over the long weekend.
In Burnaby, a pair of drivers had their vehicles impounded after they were caught driving more than double the posted speed limit.
