The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is seeking information regarding Sukhdev Dhaliwal, a 48-year-old man believed to be the last person who rented a vehicle found burning with a body inside last week.

On November 15, at approximately 10:43 pm, the Abbotsford Police Department attended to a vehicle in the 5300-block of Bates Road. Police found a body inside the vehicle.

Witnesses reported seeing a dark-coloured SUV fleeing the scene of the incident, driving towards Mission. Due to the incident’s suspicious nature, IHIT was called to take over the investigation.

IHIT has determined the burnt vehicle was a black Chevrolet Tahoe rented by Dhaliwal.

IHIT is looking to develop a timeline of events leading up to the vehicle fire and the discovery of the body.

“We must also wait for the conclusive findings from the autopsy as well as DNA verification before we are able to positively identify the victim.”
