Homicide team takes over probe into woman on life support after North Vancouver shooting

Editor’s note: A previous version of this story reported that the female victim was fatally shot. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has corrected the information and says the woman is still alive. 

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called to work in partnership with the North Vancouver RCMP after a woman was shot in the Lonsdale area earlier today.

She remains on life support.

According to authorities, just before 11 am North Vancouver RCMP was called to the 1100 block of Lonsdale Avenue after reports of gunshots in the area.

Officers discovered an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. RCMP said she was taken to hospital in critical condition.

“The area surrounding the scene will remain cordoned off for a significant amount of time, but there is no ongoing risk to the public stemming from this incident,” said North Vancouver RCMP in a release.
