Woman taken to hospital after daytime shooting in North Vancouver

One woman has been taken to hospital following a shooting this morning in North Vancouver.

According to North Vancouver police, shots were fired in the area of 11th Street and Lonsdale.

Just before 11:00 am, North Vancouver RCMP was called to the 1100 block of Lonsdale Avenue after witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area.

When frontline officers arrived, they discovered an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to hospital and remains in critical condition.

The area surrounding the scene will remain cordoned off for a significant amount of time, but there is no ongoing risk to the public stemming from this incident, police said.

North Vancouver RCMP Serious Crimes investigators are in the evidence gathering phase of the investigation, and are not providing any further information at this time.

The female victim was shot and officers have secured the area and are continuing the investigation.
