The highly anticipated online portal from ICBC is now live, allowing B.C. drivers to access key services, including insurance and licensing features.
Called MyICBC, the new online portal allows B.C. drivers to view statuses of IDs, including licences, learner’s cards, BCIDs and Services Cards.
If you’re expecting a licence in the mail, the online portal will allow you to track its status. If you want to book a driver’s licence appointment, the portal will allow you to do that as well.
If you’re a new driver, the online portal lets you take a practice knowledge test.
The online portal will let you pay for a ticket as well.
On top of these driver’s licensing services, the portal offers a whole suite of insurance functions, including viewing policy status, renewing your insurance, getting an insurance estimate, viewing and printing insurance-related docs, submitting an odometer reading, requesting a vehicle claim history report, applying for a collector VIN, and finding a broker.
You can also make basic changes like updating email addresses and preferences, signing up for direct deposit, viewing payment plan info or paying ICBC debt.
Finally, MyIBC offers several features when it comes to claims, including reporting a claim or a witness report, managing a claim, finding a collision or glass repair facility or finding a healthcare provider.
In February, the Ministry of Attorney General announced that new legislation had been introduced to establish online renewal or replacement of a B.C. driver’s licence, BCID, and photo Service Cards.
“Too many people have to take time off work or travel long distances just to renew or replace their ID,” said Attorney General Niki Sharma in a release. “By allowing these straightforward transactions online, we’re making life more convenient for people, especially those in rural and remote communities.
“This is part of our work to modernize government services, so they’re easier, faster and more accessible for everyone in British Columbia,” she added.
B.C. Drivers can sign in on the ICBC website, which offers several different methods for signing in.
