A recall has been issued for various types of hummus being sold at popular grocery chains in Western Canada.
According to a food recall warning from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the recall was issued by Jim Pattison Food Group Ltd. due to undeclared peanuts in some hummus products.
The impacted products are Buy-Low Foods, Nesters Market, or Save on Foods brand hummus distributed in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Yukon.
A list of the recalled products can be found on the CFIA website.
CFIA says that customers should check to see if they purchased the affected products and not consume any products to which they are allergic or sensitive, as it could result in a serious or life-threatening reaction.
“Do not serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products,” said the CFIA. “Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.”
The agency added that there have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of these products to date.
The CFIA added that it is currently conducting a food safety investigation that could lead to the recall of other products.
