‘We’re excited about what’s next’: Downtown Vancouver hotel’s lively restaurant and bar quietly hits pause

Shifts in Vancouver’s dining scene are always occurring, and it seems some changes are already underway for a notable hotel bar and lounge downtown.
The Living Room and The Basement, which were both located in Hotel Belmont, have quietly hit pause.
For those unfamiliar, The Living Room, located on the ground floor of the hotel, was a casual bar and eatery that offered a variety of comfort food staples. Think burgers, Parmesan fries, pulled pork sliders, nachos, and truffle pasta alongside classic bar offerings, all served up in a swanky interior complete with neon signs and Insta-worthy backgrounds.
Meanwhile, The Basement was a late-night hangout spot on Granville, which you would appropriately find in the basement of the Hotel Belmont. Here you could indulge in some boozy popsicles and ice cream sandwiches, in addition to some tasty drinks.

The Living Room shared the news of the closure of both concepts on its website, which has since been taken down. Additionally, the bar also shared the news on its Instagram. Currently, The Basement’s Instagram also has the space listed as “temporarily closed.”
“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported and celebrated with us over the years. While this chapter has come to a pause, we’re excited about what’s next and look forward to sharing it with you soon,” wrote The Living Room on its website.
