Over 50-year-old Vancouver restaurant recently closed both of its locations

Since it opened in 1972 in the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown, Hon’s Wonton House has been a staple of its traditional Asian comfort food. After closing its original Chinatown outpost, Hon’s eventually opened two new Vancouver locations.
Unfortunately, after opening over 50 years ago, Hon’s recently closed its final two Vancouver locations.
First, Hon’s shared that it had permanently closed its East Broadway location on Oct. 19, 2025.
“This restaurant opened in 2020 during the height of the pandemic, and we are deeply grateful for the incredible support and loyalty we’ve received from our community over the years,” wrote the restaurant on its website. “Hon’s has long been an iconic name for many Vancouverites, and while this chapter is closing, our story continues.”
Following that closure, Hon’s also announced that it had closed its Olympic Village restaurant, its final restaurant in Vancouver, on Jan. 9, 2026.
The restaurant was best known for its use of locally sourced ingredients and time-honoured Cantonese recipes, harkening back to the wonton houses of Guangzhou.

However, in its closure announcement, the restaurant shared that its retail product will remain available in all major grocery stores across the region, meaning fans of Hon’s will still be able to get their fix.
“Thank you for being part of our journey and for keeping the Hon’s tradition alive,” concluded the restaurant.
