Hilary Duff is embarking on a musical comeback, and she recently spoke about her filming days in a podcast, including a time she doesn’t quite remember in Vancouver.

Duff was on the most recent episode of Jake Shane’s Therapuss, where she spoke about her life, her career, and a forgettable experience filming The Lizzie McGuire Movie in Vancouver. She also filmed parts of the box office success in Italy.

Her latest music dropped this week with the single “Mature.” It’s Duff’s first release since 2015.

While Duff and Shane’s lips were mostly sealed in their chat about the city, she shared a few thoughts about her time in Vancouver.

“There are some very big moments that stand out obviously, like being in Italy for Lizzie McGuire, but then, the rest of it filmed in Vancouver, I could barely remember any of that stuff.”

That prompted Shane to ask, “What filmed in Vancouver?”

After first saying she didn’t recall, Duff answered, “It was a song for Lizzie McGuire.”

The film was released in 2003, so Duff would’ve been around 16 years old at the time of filming.

Cineguides, a film blog, has a more in-depth look at what scenes from The Lizzie McGuire Movie were filmed in Vancouver, and Duff shot scenes in a few locations in the city. One of those locations was Vancouver International Airport. The shot features some payphones decorated with Verizon branding.

Cineguides says it’s the scene where she’s saying goodbye to her family before her trip.

The other scene, featuring McGuire rehearsing for the International Music Awards, was filmed at the Orpheum theatre.

Duff’s die-hard fans are reacting positively to her new single and urging the 2000s icon to go on tour again. In the mid-2000s, she visited Vancouver for shows on a couple of occasions.
