Healthcare workers to gain "priority entrance" to Loblaw stores

Loblaw has announced that going forward, healthcare workers will receive priority entrance to their stores across the country.

The company operates Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart, and more.

Now, with a flash of their healthcare ID, qualifiying individuals will be given priority access to almost all locations of the company’s supermarkets and drug stores.

“We owe it to all Canadians to make things better, not harder. But that is especially true of our healthcare workers who are under incredible strain,” the company says.

“They spend long and stressful shifts supporting directly impacted individuals, and often don’t know when exactly they will be working from week to week. This uncertainty makes shopping for their own essentials very hard.”

The decision to offer priority access to healthcare workers stems, the company says, from the positive feedback received regarding the implementation of senior shopping hours.

“If you’re a healthcare worker, we hope this helps. For everyone else, please join us in recognizing these remarkable individuals by being patient while we get them into the store as quickly as we can.”
