This iconic Latin restaurant in Vancouver is getting a serious makeover
One of Vancouver’s most iconic Latin restaurants is about to get a serious makeover.
You may have heard that Havana, located at 1212 Commercial Drive, was purchased by the guys at Postmark Brewing (and Belgard Kitchen/Urban Winery) and the team has plans to make this East Van institution a revitalized slice of Cuban heaven (as soon as the permits get approved).

Co-founder and Managing Director of Postmark, Steve Thorp, told Daily Hive that the soon-to-be-renovated space will feature more bar seating, a bigger kitchen, and updated decor after all is said and done.
If you’ve been a loyal patron of the 21-year-old restaurant don’t worry, not everything is changing. The space’s signature name-carved walls will stay as they are, along with most of the structural features of the building like the theatre which is housed in the back of the restaurant.
In terms of food updates, expect authentic Cuban-style on the menu. Thorp says they’ve got plans to mix modern cooking techniques and local farm fresh ingredients to achieve the classic flavours and dishes of Cuba.
For drinks, it’s no surprise that there will be a strong craft beer list and wine on tap from FreshTAP, along with classic Cuban cocktails and a selection of house concoctions too.
The tentative grand re-opening is slated for mid-April, although the restaurant is still currently operating until they can start renovations, which are expected to kick off soon.
