A male driver is dead and another person in hospital after a car crashed into a storefront on Granville Street Friday night.
Vancouver police say around 8:30 pm, a vehicle jumped the west side of the curb along Granville Street at West 13th Avenue in the South Granville shopping district and crashed into a storefront.

The driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was rushed to hospital and remains in serious but stable condition. No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved.
Last month, a pedestrian was thrown through the window of the Purdy’s retail store just two blocks away, at Granville Street and West 11th Avenue, after being struck by a vehicle involved in a rush hour crash. The force of the accident sent a silver pickup truck onto the sidewalk of the busy shopping district.
Friday’s crash is the city’s seventh fatal motor vehicle accident of 2020.
