Golden Ears camping reservations quickly snapped up after late opening

Camping reservations for recently repaired Golden Ears Provincial Park opened today at 7 a.m., and summer spots got snapped up quickly.

The road into the park was fixed recently after being closed for months because of an atmospheric river storm in October 2024. Access to the park was restored on March 17, with the province scheduling camping reservations to open up at 7 a.m. March 19.

But if you were hoping to snag a weekend spot, you may be out of luck — most of the camping spaces in Golden Ears are already taken.

The Gold Creek campsite starts welcoming visitors again on March 29. Alouette and North Beach sites can be booked for April 16 onwards.

All camping reservations are subject to a four-month rolling window. That means July 19 is the farthest date visitors can reserve for today.

Campers should note that some of the park’s trails remain damaged and may be closed or only partially reopened.

When accessing the northern part of the park, including the campgrounds, visitors should still expect traffic delays because a small part of the road will be restricted to single-lane alternating traffic.

“We know it was difficult having most of the park closed this winter from the impacts of climate change, but visitor safety is our top priority,” stated B.C.’s minister of environment and parks, Tamara Davidson, in a news release earlier this month.

Full information about trail closures, campsites, and repairs can be found on the park’s website.
