Popular B.C. provincial park to reopen camping reservations after months of closures

Eager outdoor enthusiasts will soon be able to reserve campsites at Golden Ears Park once again.

The announcement comes after the provincial park remained closed since October 2024 due to flooding and atmospheric river damage.

The province notes that the floods damaged many areas, including several trails and the Golden Ears Parkway, which provides visitor access to the park’s three campgrounds.

The province adds that vehicle access should be restored by March 17 if construction goes accordingly.

“We know it was difficult having most of the park closed this winter from the impacts of climate change, but visitor safety is our top priority,” stated B.C.’s minister of environment and parks, Tamara Davidson, in a news release.

Camping reservations for the Gold Creek, Alouette, and North Beach campgrounds will reopen on Wednesday, March 19, at 7 a.m.

Gold Creek campsite can be booked for arrivals starting March 29. Alouette and North Beach sites can be booked for arrivals starting April 16.

The province says reservations for all campsites are subject to a four-month rolling window.

Campers should note that some of the park’s trails remain damaged and may be closed or only partially reopened.

When accessing the northern part of the park, including the campgrounds, visitors should still expect traffic delays because a small part of the road will be restricted to single-lane alternating traffic.

Full information about trail closures, campsites, and repairs can be found on the park’s website.
