Women, marginalized genders to headline Vancouver Glitter Ball

Mar 5 2019, 6:42 am

Vancouver is officially getting a new music festival this spring, that will feature bands exclusively fronted musicians who “identify as women or other marginalized genders.”

Organizers say Glitter Ball 2019 is meant to shine a spotlight on a diverse set of talent including cis women, trans women, genderqueer women, non-binary folks and “those who otherwise challenge the cis-heteronormative binary.”

The Glitter Ball will take place from May 4 to 5 and each day will be separated by genre.

Early bird tickets are now available online for $20 per day and $30 for the weekend. Once the early bird offers sell out, prices will increase.

Proceeds from Glitter Ball will, in part, go to WISH Centre Drop-In Society, a non-profit based in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside which provides safe spaces and resources for female-identifying sex workers.
