We’re right in the midst of awards season, and Canada is once again in the spotlight.
Nova Scotia-based Glen Breton Distillery was just named Canada Whisky Distillery of the Year at the 2026 New York International Spirits Competition, adding to an already impressive year of awards for the Canadian single malt whisky producers.
Additionally, Glen Breton walked away with a Double Gold for its 21-year-old Rare Canadian Single Malt Whisky, in addition to winning a Double Gold at both the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the International Women’s Spirit Competition.
“Made in the Highlands of Cape Breton, Glen Breton draws its character from the waters of MacLellan’s Brook and the island’s deep Scottish heritage. The latest recognition brings renewed attention to the people, place, and craftsmanship behind Canada’s first single malt whisky,” wroteĀ Glen Breton.
Ontario-based distillery Sharab Spirits also walked away with an award for its Patiala Peg Original, winning Canada Liqueur of the Year.
