A brand new comic convention is coming to Vancouver this summer.
Event organizers have announced the dates for Geektopia, a one-day comic event that specializes in all genres and fandoms.
Whether it’s anime, fantasy, horror, superhero, or science fiction, fans are invited to celebrate their passion of choice and join in the community event.
According to organizers, the goal of Geektopia is “to bridge the gaps between entertainment and education” and to “create opportunities for fans to dive deeper into their cherished genres.”
Attendees can look forward to seminars, celebrities, panels, and open gaming events backed up with plenty of prizes.
A cosplay competition, complete with two cash prizes, will also be held over the course of the weekend.
The contest will be divided into a JFF (Just For Fun) category, for contestants that purchased their costumes, and will come with a $150 cash prize.
A Master Craftsperson category will also be available for contestants who made their costume, with a cash prize of $250.
The event will also feature a number of special guests, including cosplayers like J. Appletini and Katy Decobray.

Annette Reilly and Peter Bundic from the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Tracey Moore, the original voice actress of Sailor Moon, will also be there.

Organizers have also partnered up with the Amanda Todd Legacy Society, in an effort to stand up against bullying and cyberbullying. Proceeds from each ticket sold will go towards the society.
Geektopia will take place in Vancouver on Saturday, July 6, 2019, from 10 am to 8 pm at the Harbour Convention Centre.
